I am using a tube system. McIntosh MX110 tuner/preamp and MC240 amp.
I understand a solid state crossover will "color" the great tube sound. This is unacceptable.
The tube crossover on the Marchand web site in $2000. YIKES! :eek:
I think I will stay with the passive unless I can find a tube crossover that is priced reasonably.
I used to use a Rane AC22 with my 604-8Ks and it never sounded right to me. It is a relatively simple design; for instance you can't adjust LF and HF independently. Also, I tried a bunch of different OPs and I never could get rid of an audible noise floor.
You also need to implement some sort of EQ for the CD horn.
So, I ended up rolling my own based on a concept I found over at diyaudio.com: B1 Active Crossover - diyAudio
Took me a while to make it, fine tuning was a little bit of a pain too, but I am very pleased with the result. If you are interested, I could share my LTSpice simulation files. Should work fine with the 604-8H too.

Not sure what you mean by that. The AC22B I use has separate level controls for both HF and LF, and an overall gain setting.Quote:
